GIS education and research Centre of Aleksandras Stulginskis University was established on the ground of GIS Laboratory in 2004.
The role of Centre is to carry-out scientific research, enhancement of GIS studies at the University, propagation of scientific knowledge and up-to-date know-how, consultations and services.
Main functions of Centre:
Scientific research:
• Creation of theoretical and methodological fundaments for use of GIS in the fields of land, water and forest sciences.
• Development of GIS databases of natural resources (soil, forest, river, water pollution, etc.).
• Research in the field of remote sensing based system of monitoring of natural resources
Studies:
• Organization and support of GIS and remote sensing studies at the Lithuanian University of Agriculture in collaboration with other departments of University.
• Support for students, master students and PhD students in their scientific research work.
• Electronic education in the field of geoinformatics and remote sensing.
Services:
• Contract works using GIS and remote sensing technologies.
• Consultations and training in the field of GIS and remote sensing.
• Services in digital photogrametry, cartography and spatial data processing.
• Conditions for juridical and physical individuals to implement their projects.
Information and know-how dissemination:
• Courses, conferences, seminars, consultations, competitions, open-door-days, etc.
• Publication of informational bulletin "GIS technology in forestry"
